Overview
The SDSC Surf Goalkeeping Academy offers an exclusive goalkeeping curriculum developed by Anthony Meza, the Director of Goalkeeping.
Anthony brings in a deep understanding and knowledge of the Goalkeeping position and the game to our program and club. He brings over 20 years of coaching experience which includes NCAA Division I, High School, Youth Soccer, and the US National Paralympic Team. His work with national, professional, and college-level athletes brings an invaluable level of information, instructional techniques, and training environments to the SDSC Surf Goalkeeping Academy. He is currently the GK Coach for the University of San Diego (7th Season). Anthony currently holds a USSF National B License and National Soccer Coaches of America GK Diploma – Level III.
Anthony says “Goalkeeping is a unique position that needs and deserves specialized training. Our Goalkeeping Program addresses the needs of a GK through our comprehensive curriculum. Our GK Staff develop our keepers with a strong technical base, employ game-like tactical scenarios, push them to new physical limits, and educate them of the psychological demands of the GK position. Our academy offers some of the best training in Southern California by the best GK coaches around. Our Goalkeeping staff consists of former professionals and college coaches. Under their tutelage, they have developed current and former professional and collegiate Goalkeepers playing in the United States and abroad.”
SDSC Surf Goalkeeper Curriculum
Goalkeeping is a specialized position that requires different skill sets and continual specialized training. The SDSC Surf Goalkeeping Curriculum follows a progressive reoccurring 6-week rotation of key topics that relate to the goalkeeper position. While all SDSC Surf Goalkeepers are strongly encouraged to attend any age-appropriate session, it is beneficial to attend all sessions within a 6-week block to cover all topics. If you have any Goalkeeping Academy questions or questions regarding our current curriculum schedule, please contact Anthony Meza.
